PeopleSoft PeopleTools Business Interlink Unauthenticated Takeover
Severe, but no confirmed exploitation yet. Schedule remediation in your next patch cycle and apply mitigations if you're exposed.
An unauthenticated attacker, remotely over the network, with no user interaction, can fully compromise the system — steal data, tamper with it and take it offline.
Vulnerability in the PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools product of Oracle PeopleSoft (component: Business Interlink). Supported versions that are affected are 8.61-8.63. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 9.8 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).
Inferred from the weakness type (CWE) and how the flaw is reached — the techniques an attacker would chain to exploit this. Real-world corroboration appears here as threat intel is folded in.
Generated by Wavense from the CVE record — an immediate mitigation and the permanent fix.
Immediately restrict network access to PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools instances, especially from untrusted external networks, by implementing strict firewall rules. Deploy Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) to monitor and filter suspicious HTTP traffic targeting the Business Interlink component. Enhance logging and monitoring for unusual activity or unauthorized access attempts against the PeopleSoft application.
Apply the vendor-provided security patch from Oracle as soon as it becomes available to address CVE-2026-60821. Affected organizations should prioritize upgrading all PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools instances running versions 8.61, 8.62, and 8.63 to a patched or later unaffected version. Continuously monitor Oracle's security advisories for specific patch release details and installation instructions.
An unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP can easily exploit this vulnerability to fully compromise and take over the PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools instance. This grants the attacker complete control over the system, leading to severe impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all data and operations managed by PeopleSoft. The business consequences include potential data breaches, operational disruption, and reputational damage.

In order to decrypt SM2 encrypted data an application is expected to call the API function EVP_PKEY_decrypt(). Typically an application will call this function twice. The first time, on entry, the "out" parameter can be NULL and, on exit, the "outlen" parameter is populated with the buffer size required to hold the decrypted plaintext. The application can then allocate a sufficiently sized buffer and call EVP_PKEY_decrypt() again, but this time passing a non-NULL value for the "out" parameter. A bug in the implementation of the SM2 decryption code means that the calculation of the buffer size required to hold the plaintext returned by the first call to EVP_PKEY_decrypt() can be smaller than the actual size required by the second call. This can lead to a buffer overflow when EVP_PKEY_decrypt() is called by the application a second time with a buffer that is too small. A malicious attacker who is able present SM2 content for decryption to an application could cause attacker chosen data to overflow the buffer by up to a maximum of 62 bytes altering the contents of other data held after the buffer, possibly changing application behaviour or causing the application to crash. The location of the buffer is application dependent but is typically heap allocated. Fixed in OpenSSL 1.1.1l (Affected 1.1.1-1.1.1k).

There's a flaw in libxml2 in versions before 2.9.11. An attacker who is able to submit a crafted file to be processed by an application linked with libxml2 could trigger a use-after-free. The greatest impact from this flaw is to confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
An integer overflow flaw which could lead to an out of bounds write was discovered in libssh2 before 1.8.1 in the way SSH_MSG_CHANNEL_REQUEST packets with an exit signal are parsed. A remote attacker who compromises a SSH server may be able to execute code on the client system when a user connects to the server.
